Tips for the Perfect Photos of your Wedding Day

1.  Before the big day  - Practice your poses in front of a mirror. Get to know your best profile/angles and your expressions. Nobody knows you better than yourself and by being able to portray your personality to the camera will not only make the photographers job easier but will also narrow down the time needed to capture all your precious formal and candid moments. Especially if your ceremony is later in the day or you have a large bridal party and not many daylight hours to work with before your reception.
Yes Grooms to be this means you as well. Get together with your beautiful bride to be & practice posing together – Holding her face, looking into her eyes etc. Project the intimacy you want the camera to capture. Don’t worry if you feel awkward doing this as being your photographers we will be able to guide you. But the more you practice the more natural it will feel for you on the day. We even recommend involving the bridal party, as they will be in the majority of your photos. We offer a pre-wedding photo shoot in our studio where we will go over all of this with you. A pre wedding bridal party and a Bride/Groom photo will be included in this package. Please refer to Creative Looks Portrait Photography Link as to what to wear for your studio shoot.

2. Ceremony  - Before you even get out of the car, check there is no lipstick on your teeth. This includes the bridesmaids. Make sure your limo driver uses a cover over the tyres to protect your wedding gown. To be used before you get in and out of the car. (Talking from experience here as I had a big black mark on the back of my gown before I even walked down the isle!!) These are the kind of things that get completely overlooked.
Well you have made it to the ceremony and out of the car alive! You now have your beautiful bouquet and you can see your future husband waiting for you. Your nerves are starting to take hold. Now is the time to make sure your flowers do not obscure your amazing gown. Hold them into you, resting your arms against your hips. Especially if you have a teardrop bouquet as you want it to cascade down not sticking out in front of you. (Again talking from experience!)

Finally you have made it to the alter. If you are wearing a veil make sure whoever is lifting it off your face (whether it be your father, mother or your groom) that they lift it slowly. (Get a bridesmaid to fix it at the back to make sure it is sitting right.)

Lifting Veil

One of the most important photos of your wedding day is the exchanging of your rings. When placing them on each other’s hands, ensure your fingers are not obscuring the ring. Hold the ring on the sides with your thumb and index finger and slowly slide the ring onto your partner’s finger. Hold this pose for a moment while your photographer captures this. Again, practice this before the day. See images below:

Above all else – Try not to let any small details worry you too much as we will be there to guide you through your day. The most important thing is to just be yourselves and to enjoy the most amazing and happy day you will ever experience.
